One of the world's greatest predators is the African lion. He is the most noble and feared predator in all of Africa and the second biggest cat in the world. The lion's coordination and sheer power gives it the ability to jump high, run fast, hunt prey, and protect the pride.
There is no way to think about the great predators of the world without mentioning the great white shark. These creatures roam most of the oceans of the world, growing up to 20 feet in length and weighing as much as 5,000 pounds. The great white is the second biggest shark in the world and one of the fastest and the most powerful creatures in the ocean. The mouth of the great white contains hundreds of dagger-like teeth. They live up to 70 years and hunt seal, whale, dolphin, octopus, and even other sharks.
Here is the mighty polar bear. The largest bear and largest land predator in the world, polar bears stand up to 10 feet tall and can weigh in at 1500-2000 pounds. Even though it's a land predator, it does most of its hunting at sea. They have a keen sense of smell and are able even to detect a seal from a mile away and under 3 feet of snow. It has large and sharp teeth and a powerful bite that comes with it, and it has claws that can tear meat out of prey that he caught for lunch. The polar bear's size also gives it lots of sheer power that makes it unstoppable when it comes to fighting off other predators that want to steal its kill. These facts give the polar bear one of the best spots in the carnivorous world today.
The Nile crocodile is the only living dinosaur, which makes it the oldest predator in the world. It's a tactical predator. It lies and waits for prey to come get a drink. The crocodile's back is the perfect camouflage when it's in the water, giving prey a false sense of security, as though they are only drinking water near a piece of driftwood. Then when they are least expecting it, the crocodile jumps out of the water and grabs the defenseless animal. The crocodile has the most powerful bite in all of the animal kingdom, and probably no creature has a greater dominance of its domain than the crocodile has of his.
My fifth choice to be one of the world's greatest predators would have to be the Siberian tiger. The Siberian tiger is the largest cat in the world. It's the most dominant predator in the jungle because it's striped pattern allows it to hide from prey long enough to pounce on it and make it dinner. The tiger has all the capabilities to catch anything. it can jump, it can climb, it can run fast, and unlike any other big cat, it loves to swim. Unlike the lion, tigers don't really hunt in pacs or in this case prides. The tiger usually hunts by itself male or female. The tiger can hunt and kill anything in the jungle. And that's why I think that the Siberian tiger has earned its place in the predatory "Hall of Fame".
Here flies the bald eagle. The bald eagle may well be considered king of the birds. Even though this eagle mainly hunts fish, believe it or not, it also hunts more animals like sloths, cranes, monkeys, and rodents. It is also one of the fastest birds in the world. It has great eye sight so it can see prey while it's flying. It also has very sharp talons that are used to kill prey.
The grey wolf would easily rank among the great predators of the world. These wolves have been around since the Ice Age and are the largest species of wolf in the world today. Wolves are famous for the way they hunt in packs. They communicate direction, strategy, and surround the prey before they move in for the kill. Sometimes they will chase the prey for many miles before the hunt is complete.
The king of snakes is the green anaconda. This is the heaviest and second to longest snake in the world. They kill by biting the prey and immediately coiling around it to squeeze out its life. They are able to consume caiman, wild pigs, birds, deer, turtles, capybara, and even jaguars. There are even youtube clips of a green anaconda fitting a baby hippo into it's mouth. Like crocodiles, the green anaconda does most of its hunting in the water. Its eyes and nostrils are on the top of its head, so it would be able to breathe and see out of the water. Just like the tiger, the pattern on the anaconda helps it to hide from prey.
